Together We Can Make a Difference!

Charles A. Lindbergh Middle School, "Home of the Eagles" has been an active member of the North Long Beach community since opening in 1935. Lindbergh Middle School follows a modified traditional calendar (Please see Calendar). For the 2008-2009 school year, we will be implementing an extended 7th Period for students who require Math Intervention (Please see Bell Schedule). Our mission at Lindbergh is to ensure a safe, caring, nurturing and culturally rich learning environment where every student is challenged daily to meet high academic expectations by a dedicated and talented staff in partnership with parents.

Student success and improved student achievement continues to be the primary goal at Lindbergh Middle School. Lindbergh has achieved some of the greatest gains in the district on the state's Academic Performance Index (API). This past year was no exception as Lindbergh again surpassed our school's target growth and achieved an API score of 702. We have been the recipient of numerous awards such as the Student Achievement Growth Award (SAGA) for making significant academic gains with the lowest performing students, earning the prestigious California GEAR-UP School on the Move Award, received the Middle School Pyramid Excellence in Leadership and Academic Results Award. Moreover, we were recognized by the Broad Foundation U.S. Team for an excellent teaching staff, students motivated and on task, positive school climate, high academic expectations for all students and a strong focus on literacy and math which prepares students for high school. Lindbergh's statewide ranking increased from 3 to 5 in one year, and the school ranks 10 out of 10 compared to schools with similar student populations.

Lindbergh's success is attributed to high expectations and intense focus on literacy and math, careful planning, analysis of student work, teamwork, a positive school climate, strong student support interventions, strong GEAR-UP and AVID programs, honors and elective classes, technology, "hands on" activities, supportive parents, top-notch teachers and department chairs, and excellent staff collaboration and ongoing communication through common conference period department meetings, track meetings, and faculty meetings.

Lindbergh continues to be recognized for closing the achievement gap by making significant academic gains with all students. Respect and support for teachers has always been a priority at Lindbergh which is a key component to our student academic success. The support and collaborative efforts of parents, community members and staff make it happen. We look forward to the opportunities and challenges of each school year. As educators, we are in the business of providing equal access to a quality education for all students. Lindbergh is beating the odds, proving it can be done, and sharing what works.

P.S. Read about how Lindbergh Middle School was honored for achieving the most academic growth of any middle school in the district.
