August 31, 2005 Dear Barton Parents/Guardians, Welcome back to school for the 2005-06 school year. The entire staff is looking forward to helping your child reach his/her highest potential. Most importantly, we would like to thank you and your child for doing his/her part to help raise our test scores. Weíre pleased to announce that Barton met their Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) target. This target indicates that students are making progress in English Language Arts and Math. This is directly attributed to the positive efforts made by our parents, students, and staff. The first day of school is Wednesday, September 7th. School will begin at 8:00 AM for all 1st ó 5th graders. The first day of school is always a minimum day for 1st ó 5th grade. The school day will end at 1:00 PM. Kindergarten students are not dismissed early on minimum days. Early Thursday dismissals will begin on September 9th for grades 1 ó 5. The district and school dress code policy will be strictly enforced throughout the entire school year. Please take a few moments to review the uniform guidelines prior to the beginning of school. More information on the district and school dress code will be included in the opening packet that is given to each student on his/her first day of school. Tops for Girls/Boys: Polo style shirts with collars, buttoned down shirts/blouses with collars, and turtlenecks. All must be white, light blue, or navy blue. School spirit shirts and/or school related shirts (science fair, etc.) are the only T-Shirts that students may wear. Bottoms for Girls/Boys: Students must wear solid navy blue clothing. Navy blue shorts, pants, skorts, skirts, and jumpers. Students may wear solid dark navy blue jeans only if they are not ripped, faded, iridescent, acid washed, and/or frayed. Light blue denim will not be allowed. All clothing must be hemmed. The Barton Staff strongly believes that all students must follow the district and school dress code policy. The facts prove that student success is directly related to student dress. It is our sincere desire to provide a safe and orderly campus for all students. Therefore, it is critical that all students regularly follow the district and school dress code policy including the code of conduct. Parents will be contacted if students do not comply with the district/school dress code policy and/or the district/school code of conduct. The entire Barton Staff appreciates your continued support during the upcoming school year. Sincerely, Mrs. Luana M. Wesley Principal LWesley@lbusd.k12.ca.us |
