Community Meetings Planned on Facilities

The Long Beach Unified School District will hold several community meetings in the coming weeks to help finalize school facilities priorities. 

The latest outreach effort comes as the school district works to update its Facility Master Plan, a long-term blueprint for meeting the changing needs of schools.  The original plan was developed in 2008 with input from dozens of community meetings over a period of more than two years, and it has undergone updates since then.

Members of the public are invited to attend these community meetings offered throughout the various regions of the school district.  Members of high school and feeder school communities in each respective area are encouraged to attend to provide input and view information on school-site-specific needs and concepts.  The schedule is:

Feb. 18, 5 p.m., Jordan High School Theater, 6500 Atlantic Ave., Long Beach.  High school and feeder schools include Addams, Barton, Dooley, Grant, Hamilton, Harte, Hughes, Jordan, King, Lindbergh, Lindsey, Longfellow, Los Cerritos, McKinley and Powell.

Feb. 24, 5 p.m., Poly High School Library, 1600 Atlantic Ave., Long Beach.  High schools and feeder schools include Birney, Cabrillo, CAMS, EPHS, Garfield, Hudson, Lafayette, PAAL, Poly, Muir, Reid, Robinson, Roosevelt, Smith and Webster.

Feb. 24, 5 p.m., Renaissance High School Theater, 235 E. 8th St., Long Beach.  High school and feeder schools include Chavez, Edison, Franklin, Herrera, Lincoln, Oropeza, Renaissance, Stevenson, Whittier and Willard.

Feb. 27, 5 p.m., Browning High School Multipurpose Room, 2180 Obispo Ave., Long Beach.  High schools and feeder schools include Alvarado, Avalon, Browning, Bryant, Burbank, Fremont, Jefferson, Kettering, Long Beach School for Adults, Lowell, Mann, Naples, Nelson, Rogers, Sato, Signal Hill, Tincher, Two Harbors and Wilson.

Feb. 27, 5 p.m., Lakewood High School Library, 4400 Briercrest Ave., Lakewood.  High schools and feeder schools include Bancroft, Beach, Bixby, Burcham, Carver, Cleveland, Cubberley, Emerson, Gant, Gompers, Henry, Holmes, Hoover, Keller, Lakewood, MacArthur, Madison, Marshall, McBride, Millikan, Newcomb, Prisk, Riley, Stanford and Twain.
