Shirley Todd, a nurse at Hoover and Madison schools, has won the School Nurse of the Year Award from the Long Beach School Nurse Association.
Described as “dedicated, caring, compassionate with much experience and knowledge,” she encourages new nurses by using her 30 years of experience.
Todd has served as a member of the school district’s Crisis Response Team and as an administrator for summer programs. She has worked with 22 schools.
The Long Beach School Nurse Association also presented a Friends of School Nurse Award to Barry Welsch, president of the Teachers Association of Long Beach, in recognition of his advocacy on behalf of LBUSD school nurses.
