Students from McBride High School earned first place recently in the Central and Bay Region of the Metropolitan Water District’s 15th annual Solar Cup. The competition is the largest student-based solar-powered boat race in the nation. Students apply their skills in math, physics, engineering and communications while learning about water resources, conservation and alternative energy.
“I am very proud of our students for their amazing work ethic and willingness to challenge themselves,” McBride Principal Steve Rockenbach said.
Schools from 43 teams and six counties competed at Lake Skinner in southwestern Riverside County.
